Sloppy Joe Lentil Burger
Already Pre-Cooked Brown Lentils→ 3 cups (OR)
Brown dry lentils→ 1½ cups and Water→ 3½ cups
Chili powder→ 2 teaspoons
Pure or Organic Maple Syrup→ 1 teaspoon
Diced onion (medium)→ 1
Smoked flavor powder or liquid→¼ teaspoon
Barbecue Sauce→ 4 Tablespoons
Red Bell Pepper→ 1
Diced Tomatoes→ 1 (15 or 16 ounce can) Drained
Tomato Paste→ 6 Ounces
Mushrooms(sliced)→ 1 cup
Whole Wheat buns→ 4
Steps
- Combine Lentils and Water in a Pot.
- Bring it to a boil then simmer(low boil) 15-20 minutes.
- Break the Fryn’ pan out and throw the Onion, Pepper, and mushrooms on Medium Heat Until Soft and somewhat browned.
- Add the Tomato Paste and Diced Tomatoes then stir over low heat.
- Add cooked Lentils, chili powder, barbecue sauce, smoke flavor, maple syrup And Mix it.
- Reduce heat and simmer 5 Minutes.
Preference: Add more Barbecue Sauce and/or Maple Syrup for richer taste buds. Sweeter and/or Tangier-Fiery Taste is an Option.
